Trials
Every new organization gets one 3-day trial on StoreFrame infrastructure — no cloud keys, no credit card required.
Every new organization gets one 3-day trial. The trial runs on StoreFrame-managed infrastructure, so you do not need cloud provider credentials or a payment method to get started. If you subscribe before the trial expires, your data is synced to a new production environment on your own infrastructure and the trial is destroyed. If you do not subscribe, the trial environment is destroyed automatically with no charges.
What you get during the trial
The trial provides a fully functional Magento 2 environment:
- Complete containerized Magento 2 stack (same as a paid environment)
- SSH access and container management via Hub
- Your
*.storeframe.storesubdomain with automatic SSL - Log streaming, metrics, and the Hub console
- Free theme selection from the theme marketplace
During the trial:
- No credit card required no payment method is needed to provision or use the environment
- No cloud keys required StoreFrame provides the infrastructure for the trial period
- No charges for failed deployments if provisioning fails, you pay nothing and can retry
Trial restrictions
The trial is intentionally limited to keep costs manageable for both sides:
| Feature | Trial | Paid |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | 3 days maximum | Unlimited |
| Projects | 1 | Unlimited |
| Infrastructure | StoreFrame-managed | Your own (BYOK) |
| Server options | Limited (low-power servers) | Full selection |
| Themes | Free themes only | All themes (one-time fee) |
| Trials per organization | One at a time | — |
One trial at a time. An organization can have one active trial. To start another, subscribe to the current trial or destroy it first. An expired trial can't be converted into a paid Project, so start a new trial instead.
Trial lifecycle
The 3-day countdown starts when your environment is successfully provisioned.
Day 0 — Environment provisioned → trial countdown starts
Day 1 — Email: 48 hours remaining
Day 2 — Email: 24 hours remaining
Day 2 evening — Email: 6 hours remaining
Day 3 — Email: 1 hour remaining
Day 3 + grace — Email: grace period started (1 hour to act)
Day 3 + 1h — Environment destroyed, no chargesYou can subscribe at any point during the trial period. You do not need to wait until the warning emails arrive.
Subscribing during the trial
When you click Subscribe on the trial banner, StoreFrame opens Stripe Checkout. After entering your payment details:
- A new production environment is created on your BYOK infrastructure using the cloud credentials you provide
- Your Magento data is synced from the trial environment to the new production environment (the same sync mechanism used for staging environments)
- The trial environment is destroyed after the sync completes successfully
- Your Project now contains a permanent production environment with active billing
Important: Subscribe creates a new environment — it does not transform the trial in place. The trial and the new production environment coexist briefly during the sync, then the trial is removed.
If the sync fails, the trial environment stays active and continues its countdown. You can retry from the project page. The trial timer does not pause during a failed migration attempt.
What you provide when subscribing
When you go through Stripe Checkout, you also supply your cloud provider API credentials (BYOK). StoreFrame uses those credentials to provision the new production environment on your account, so you own the server and infrastructure from day one.
See /docs/get-started/quickstart/providers for a guide to setting up cloud provider credentials before subscribing.
After conversion
Once you have subscribed:
- The Project is permanently active with monthly billing (€50/month for the Project slot)
- The 1st of each month is your billing date; you are charged a prorated amount immediately for the remainder of the current month
- You can add Stage environments (€10/month each) at any time
- You can connect additional cloud providers and manage credentials in Settings
See /docs/get-started/quickstart/start-magento-vm for the full first-Project walkthrough, including the trial and subscription steps.
If the trial expires without subscribing
The environment is destroyed automatically after the 3-day period plus the 1-hour grace window. All data on the environment is removed. No charges are applied.
Because the trial ran on StoreFrame's own infrastructure, there is nothing on your cloud account to clean up.

BYOK vs BYOC
BYOK is the StoreFrame production model — you bring cloud API keys, StoreFrame provisions servers on your account. BYOC describes the trial period only, when servers run on StoreFrame-owned infrastructure.
Trial to BYOK migration
How a trial environment is migrated to a new BYOK production environment on the customer's own cloud account when they subscribe.
