Each Magento environment runs its own MariaDB instance in a dedicated container, on the version certified for the selected Magento release. MariaDB is fully MySQL-compatible, so every Magento extension, migration script, and query works without modification.

Auto-Tuned to Your Server

The settings that matter most are calculated from the server's own RAM and vCPU count at provision time: the InnoDB buffer pool and its instances, the redo log size, and in-memory temporary tables for Magento's heavy EAV and layered-navigation queries. On top of that come fixed settings for known Magento behaviour, such as deadlock logging and a large table cache for Magento's hundreds of tables. Every value can be overridden per environment without rebuilding the image.

Private by Default

MariaDB is not reachable from the internet. PHP and the other containers reach it by name over the environment's private network, and developers work with the database through the dashboard terminal or an SSH tunnel.

Daily Encrypted Backups

A consistent hot dump is taken every day without locking tables, and the whole environment, including those dumps and the Magento media directory, is shipped to encrypted off-site storage. Retention is applied automatically, and a restore is one command on the server. Read the MariaDB docs for the full tuning reference.
